Okay, so it’s not a secret–we LOVE Peninsula State Park (aka our backyard). But, really, we love all things outdoors AND all things Fish Creek! That’s why we’ve decided to compile this list of must-do winter activities in the area.
Activity #1: Winter Wonderland Quest at Peninsula State Park (2/22)
Of course this first event is at Peninsula! This fun-filled finding-frenzy is family-friendly and full of Fish Creek frivolity! By that of course we mean “this scavenger hunt is a great time for all ages and shows you many neat Fish Creek landmarks,” but that’s not as fun to say. (;
Find out more about this event here!
Activity #2: Fat Tire Biking at Peninsula State Park
Another great activity at Peninsula, fat tire biking is a year-round activity that can be the most fun in the winter! Tearing through the snowy trails of Peninsula is both exhilarating and breathtaking, but be warned, it’s not for the weak! You’ll definitely be working up a sweat.
Don’t have a fat-tire bike? Rent some RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET from Julie’s at Nor Door Sport & Cyclery. (:
Activity #3: Snowshoeing!
Okay, so for this last one we’re concentrating on Peninsula too…it’s just such a great place! Snowshoeing is a slightly less intense way to explore the trails than fat tire biking, but you’ll still work up a sweat! Snowshoeing allows you to observe the beautiful landscapes of Peninsula at a slower pace, really taking in the scenery.

These are only a few of the activities that can make winter in Fish Creek a ton of fun, BUT whatever you do, make sure to pack the essentials! That means a heavy coat, warm gloves, scarves & hats, sturdy boots or sneakers, some hand & foot warmers, extra pairs of socks and PLENTY of layers in order to keep the cold at bay.
But wait…where can you stay in order to do all of these activities??? Julie’s Motel of course, OR the Evergreen Hill Condos, which are EVEN CLOSER to the Park, OR the Countryside Cottages, which are also in Fish Creek & located about a mile away from the Park! (;
Book your stay at any of these three OUTSTANDING options here! We’d love to be your homebase for winter adventuring.
Bundle up, friends!
Love,
Julie’s
