To get there you need to go north of Ellison Bay and drive through some windy back roads to get to this state park that is on the Lake Michigan side of the peninsula. Trail signs at Newport State Park

In March 2020, the state park entrance fees were waived so we didn’t have to worry about getting a day pass. We were able to just drive in and hike. We hiked from lot 2 and hiked all over with the kids and puppies. There are so many great trails and places to hike. I can imagine camping there would be great as well. Its definitely worth the drive.
