Fall Festival in Sister Bay

Fabulous Fall Fest

The best way to end an idyllic summer the season is with the biggest celebration of the entire year! Sister Bay Fall Fest is the ultimate Door County event! Fish Creek is the perfect place to stay during this weekend. Find peace and respite at Julie’s Motel, an Evergreen Hill Condo, or Countryside Cottages. With a quiet home base, you will be ready to be part of the festivities up north.

What started in the 1940’s as a small local gathering, put on by a group of business people, has morphed into the mega-event known as Sister Bay Fall Fest. This year the 74th Annual Fall Fest is happening the weekend of October 19th-21st. If you’ve never been, prepare for a unique  experience, punctuated by the fabulous colors of the fall season!

The fun begins on Friday October 19 at 9:00am. Are you a cool car aficionado? Be sure to see the Sister Bay Lion’s Club Classic Car show taking place on West Mill Road, just off Highway 42 in downtown. Got a sweet tooth? Indulge it AND help raise money the GO BO Foundation by stopping at Al Johnson’s Stabbur. The Annual Cookie and Bake Sale features artist quality cookies from all over the USA. All funds raised help families whose children are fighting childhood cancer.

At 10:00am the Arts and Crafts Show begins on West Mill Road. Artists from all over Wisconsin and the nation will be showing and selling their work. There will be special demonstrations by a wooden shoe carver throughout Friday and Saturday. For dinner, treat yourself to a traditional Door County fish boil, also put on by the Sister Bay Lions. Head over to the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Fire Station on West Mill Road from 5:00-7:30pm, and dig into some delish fish and all the trimmings! Don’t forget live music starting at 1:00pm at various locations in down town.

Saturday October 20th begins with a pancake breakfast at the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Fire‘s Station. The Lion’s step up to the plate again and flip pancakes from 7:00am-11:00am. The Arts and Crafts Show, Classic Car Show and Go Bo Bake Sale continue and there are some new events happening, too. North of the Village Hall is the place for kids to be! Inflatables and bungee jumping run from 9:00am-4:00pm. From 10:00am-4:00pm, the Sister Bay Moravian Church has Pumpkin Bowling and a Goat Toss, right next to Chop Restaurant on West Mill Road. At 11:00am, everything comes to a halt for the Fall Fest Parade. This is a not-to-be-missed event!! Head to the Door County Creamery at 1:00 for a Firken Barrel Tapping by local brew master Danny McMahon, from the Door County Brewery. Also at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00, find Hilly Billy Silly Science at the Village Hall. Once again there is live music at venues all around town all day and into the night!

Of course you don’t want to miss the final day of Fall Fest!! It’s your last chance for the Arts and Crafts Show (9-2) and Classic Car Show (10-3). The inflatables and bungee jumping continues (9-4), as well as the Pumpkin Bowling and Goat Toss (10-2). The Packer game will be broadcast on TVs all over town and one more chance for some live music at the Sister Bay Bowl starting at 3:30. Just in case you haven’t had enough excitement…the 50/50 Raffle winner is announced at 1:00pm and the most iconic moment of all happens at 2:00pm…of course it’s the Fall Fest Ping Pong Ball Drop, right smack dab in the middle of downtown. It’s the very best of wild excitement and the perfect way to end this traditional Door County gathering.
